02 / Category-of-one assessment

Other readiness tools show couples the gap. DecideNorth walks them through it.

We took a sensitive idea, helping couples get clear before they commit, and built the whole path: a science-backed assessment, a private partner invite, a personalized reveal, and a paid keepsake that turns the gaps into conversations. We saw a conversion leak in the client's initial concept, too cold for the moment, so we rebuilt the whole experience to close it.

Live proof surface

We saw the conversion leak in the first design, then rebuilt the whole site to close it.

Drag the divider to compare the first version (left) with the rebuild we shipped (right). The first design was clean but cold, a conversion leak for a decision this emotional, so we rebuilt it warm, premium, and calm enough to earn the first answer. Scroll inside the frame to move down the page.

Before / after Open live site

A high-stakes relationship product has to feel safe before it earns a single answer.

Couples weighing marriage are not browsing. DecideNorth had to make the promise clear, make the assessment feel safe enough to begin, and turn private answers into something genuinely useful, all without ever rendering a verdict on the relationship.

01

The situation

Every premarital tool has the same failure: it shows a couple where they disagree, then stops. The serious options also hide behind a paid counselor and withhold the results from the couple. The opening was a self-serve check that does the harder half, helping couples navigate the gap, not just see it.

02

The redesign

We saw the conversion leak in the client's initial design: clean, but cold. For a decision this emotional, that chill is expensive, people feel it and leave before they start. So we rebuilt the look to close the leak: warm navy and antique gold, a golden-hour hero, and the Alignment Book itself redesigned from a dark first version into the warm keepsake it is now. Same product, a face that finally earns the first answer.

03

The build

The shipped system is deep: an anonymous start with no signup, a seven-section assessment with auto-save, a private partner invite carrying a personalized audio note, answer isolation enforced at the database, a deterministic scoring engine, Stripe checkout, and a page-flip Alignment Book in app and as a PDF. The site is the front door for real product behavior.

04

The conversion design

The funnel is the product. You cannot unlock the joint reveal without inviting your partner, so the invite is the growth loop, not a referral bolt-on. The full solo result and the joint alignment map are free; the single paywall appears only after the couple has already seen their value, and the paid keepsake is the gap navigation itself.

05

The proof

DecideNorth is a working, paid, scored assessment with a private partner loop and a real keepsake. The revenue figure we handed the owner is planning math from the live price, not banked revenue, and saying that plainly is part of the same care that went into the build.

8 science-backed dimensions scored, each with a way forward, not just a gap
$7,110 modeled revenue per 1,000 starts we built for the owner (60% complete × 15% purchase × $79)
Live production build: assessment, private partner invite, checkout, and keepsake

What it demonstrates

Strategy, product logic, and a trust-sensitive checkout in one coherent path.

This is the kind of proof that matters when a founder or expert has an idea that should become more than a page: a diagnostic, calculator, assessment, report, or lead magnet with real product behavior behind it.

Product depth

Assessment to keepsake

Seven scored sections, a deterministic engine, a staged joint reveal, and a page-flip Alignment Book in app and as a PDF, built as one product, not a quiz with a paywall taped on.

Conversion design

The invite is the loop

Free solo result, free joint map, one paywall after the value is already on screen. Growth is built in: the joint reveal only opens once both partners are in.

Trust by design

Safe enough to answer

Anonymous start, partner answers isolated at the database, no verdict on the relationship, no manufactured urgency. The restraint is the credibility.
